Tension collapses.     <br\/><br\/>This is matrix failure\u2014and it often has less to do with the label and more to do with how you treat the liner.<br\/><br\/>Common causes of matrix breakage:<br\/>&#8211; Liner tension too high during matrix stripping<br\/>&#8211; Sharp internal corners in the label design, especially near radius changes<br\/>&#8211; Die too deep, cutting into or damaging the liner<br\/>&#8211; Weak liner material (low basis weight or poor MD strength)<br\/>&#8211; Matrix geometry too narrow relative to label stiffness<br\/><br\/>Even the best die-cut label can fail in production if the matrix can\u2019t hold its own structural path.<br\/><br\/>Symptoms:<br\/>&#8211; Matrix tears before rewind<br\/>&#8211; Labels shift or pop off during rewind<br\/>&#8211; Edge web flutter or chatter on auto-lines<br\/>&#8211; Higher waste or operator intervention<br\/><br\/>Solutions:<br\/>&#8211; Increase liner strength (especially for narrow-web designs)<br\/>&#8211; Adjust die depth and profile\u2014cut the label, not the liner<br\/>&#8211; Use matrix assist rollers to reduce strain at take-off<br\/>&#8211; Avoid label designs with internal points or sudden angle changes<br\/>&#8211; Use back-scoring for thick facestocks to reduce liner load<br\/><br\/>The matrix is often treated as waste.
